In 2001 my wife, Barbie McSean, and I moved to Grayshott. Within a year we became involved with Grayshott Village Hall. I am responsible for maintaining/improving the audio/visual facilities. This interest stemmed from my early working life as a recording and live sound engineer, touring with acts such as U2 and the Welsh National Opera.
Growing tired of touring I trained as a technical author and worked as a specialist contractor on fast jets for the RAF. This led to becoming involved in Richard Noble's Thrust SSC project, which set a land speed record of 763mph.
My current area of speciality is the development of laser equipment for measuring micron sized particles in jet fuels and diesels. I design instruments, new techniques and lecture on the subject world-wide. I am currently a member of the Energy Institute, ASTM and BSI, sitting on various international fuel standards committees.
I became a Parish councillor in 2007 and am currently the Council’s representative on the Village Hall Management Committee.
Having spent my formative years in semi-rural surroundings, I appreciate the importance of maintaining a 'village' type of environment whilst ensuring that there is a local economic vibrancy.
