Planning in Grayshott

East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) is the local planning authority (LPA) for Grayshott. All planning applications are decided by EHDC. Grayshott Parish Council is a statutory consultee, meaning we are notified of every application in the parish and can submit comments for consideration.

Our Planning & Conservation Committee meets once a month to consider new planning applications. Residents, applicants and neighbours are welcome to and encouraged to attend these meetings.

Information on what work requires planning permission and how to apply for it, as well as details of current and past planning applications in the area, can be found on the East Hampshire District Council website:

Grayshott Conservation Area

A conservation area is defined as “an area of special architectural or historic interest, the character of which it is desirable to preserve or enhance.” The centre of Grayshott, including much of Headley Road, Crossways Road and St Luke’s Church is a Conservation Area. Grayshott Parish Council is committed to protecting and, where possible, enhancing this important part of the village.

Living in a conservation area means there are tighter planning controls, and you are more likely to need planning permission for (but not limited to) demolition, new development, changes of use, advertisements and any works to trees.

Further guidance can be found in East Hampshire District Council’s Character Appraisal & Management Plan Grayshott Conservation Area Character Appraisal and Management Plan Feb 2016.pdf and Grayshott Parish Council’s Village Design Statement.
