Grayshott Parish Council was established in 1902 and looks after the interests of the businesses and population (approximately 2,500) of Grayshott without political bias.  Parish Councils are elected bodies that have the legal power to take action to improve their community’s quality of life and the local environment.  The council represents the interests of the community in a range of issues such as planning, public safety, highways and community resilience.

Our mission is:

To enhance the quality of life for the community of Grayshott, maintain the village identity and encourage a community spirit.

The Parish Council Office is at the Sports Pavilion on Beech Hanger Road and is open to the public on Mondays & Thursdays from 1000-1200.

We have 10 councillors.  We make decisions unfettered by the political persuasion of Councillors and will vote according to our individual views on the best outcome for the community and not as part of any politically based voting arrangement.

Parish elections take place every 4 years. If there are more than 10 candidates a ballot box election will take place (the last one being in 1987). Candidates for election, or co-option in the event of a casual vacancy, must be at least 18 years old AND be on our electoral register OR live/work in the parish OR live within 3 miles of the parish boundary.

In carrying out our responsibilities we work closely with Hampshire County Council and East Hampshire District Council.

We are empowered to charge a local rate or precept in order to administer our affairs. This precept is collected on our behalf by East Hampshire District Council and paid to us half-yearly.  We use this money to maintain and manage our assets and services and employ a clerk and an assistant clerk, on a part-time basis, to manage the administration and finances.
