Grayshott Boundary Walks
A Parish Council working group, the Green Spaces Group, comprising of Councillors and residents aims to maintain and enhance Grayshott’s green spaces, to provide a welcoming, safe and pleasing environment that encourages play, recreation, wellbeing and inspiration for current and future generations.
One of the group’s major projects is to design and publish a set of boundary walks. The entire boundary of Grayshott is rather too long for many people to walk in one go, and much of it is not accessible. So, to encourage people to explore our beautiful natural environment, and at the same time learn something of its history, a set of four walks, each of about 3 1/2 miles, have been designed.
The first walk – Kingswood and Stoney Bottom – was launched in June 2022. A 28-page brochure describes the route and points of interest along it.
The second walk – The Medieval Hamlet – has just been launched. An illustrated 36-page brochure describes the walk, points of interest and how to link the walk with walk 1. The brochures are available from the Parish Council office and outlets around the village.
The third walk – Flat Wood and The Southwater – has arrived. This beautifully illustrated 44-page brochure describes the walk, points of interest along the way and how to link this walk with walks 2 and 4. The brochures are available from the Parish Council office and outlets around the village.
Walk 4, The Hanger and Whitmore
The fifth walk – Architecture, Trade and Prosperity – this walk concentrates on the village centre, especially upon its development as a service centre for the tourism industry in the decades around 1900. It’s packed with period photos and adverts, which give a fascinating taste of our village’s life and trade at that time. The walk itself is quite short and easy, only about a mile and all on footpaths. It has been funded entirely by Grayshott Heritage. The brochures are available from the Parish Council office and outlets around the village.
Grayshott Village Tree Walk
This 90 minute guided walk takes you around the village, highlighting the wealth of trees in the area and provides some of the history behind the trees. The charming illustrated booklet shows the walk and describes significant trees throughout Grayshott village.
