Supporting Local Residents Through Coordinated Care
Grayshott Community CARE, a long‑established local charity, continues to provide an essential service for residents who are unable to drive to their medical and dental appointments. The charity arranges transport not only within the village but also to hospitals and specialist clinics across the region. Many clients would struggle to attend these appointments without this support. In the final quarter of 2025 alone, the charity facilitated 350 individual journeys.
The organisation relies heavily on its team of volunteer coordinators. Working from home, coordinators act as the central point of contact for clients, taking telephone requests for transport, gathering essential details, and matching each journey with an available volunteer driver. The role requires good communication skills, a calm and organised approach, and the ability to liaise sensitively with clients who may be elderly, anxious, or managing complex health needs. Coordinators typically cover a set day or half‑day each week, ensuring the service runs smoothly and reliably.
Grayshott Community CARE is currently seeking additional volunteer Coordinators to help meet growing demand. Anyone interested in supporting this valued community service is invited to contact grayshottcare@gmail.com for further information. The charity notes that volunteers often find the role highly rewarding, knowing their time directly enables neighbours to access vital healthcare.
