Community Transport in Grayshott – USE IT OR LOSE IT!

Following two questionnaires to residents, the Parish Council was delighted to reach agreement with Haslemere Hoppa to introduce a 6 month pilot to provide Grayshott residents with a pre- booked door to door service to travel between Grayshott and anywhere in Haslemere. The service is available to anyone of any age living in Grayshott.

The pilot runs for 6 months, subject to demand, and is possible due to funding from our County Councillor.

Grayshott residents indicated they would definitely use the service for just over 66 return trips per week if introduced. The actual usage is disappointing.

49 residents of Grayshott and Headley Down have registered to use the service but in the first 9 weeks of operation only 6 persons making 18 single trips have used this excellent service.

The decision to continue this pilot is not a decision for Grayshott Parish Council.   If residents do not wish to have access to, and use a community transport service, then the operator is likely to withdraw it sooner rather than later.

The message is clear…if we want a service, it needs to show evidence of use, and use right now.
