Elms Return
Ten disease-resistant Elm trees are being planted at Applegarth; four in two copses owned by Applegarth Vale and six in the Applegarth Meadow SANG that is owned and managed by Grayshott Parish Council.
The new saplings have been gifted to Grayshott by the Hampshire Forest Partnership. The council are very appreciative of the gift and also grateful for assistance from the Applegarth Vale Residents Association in planting the new elm trees.
The elms will undoubtedly take many years to mature and become as spectacular as the elms of yesteryear that were devastated across the country by Dutch Elm Disease in the 1970s and 1980s. Nevertheless, it is wonderful to see that elms are finally making a comeback in Grayshott.
