Haslemere Hoppa Pilot service for Grayshott and Headley Down residents ends
The six month pilot service to test the demand for door to door weekday morning community
transport to and from Grayshott/Headley Down to Haslemere ends on Monday 31 October. This
pilot was introduced in May following two consultations with residents which indicated a strong
demand for a weekday morning service and was accompanied by extensive promotion to every
household in Grayshott.
Results of the pilot are as follows:
Consultation:
- 50 residents told us they ‘ definitely would’ make an average of 156 single trips per week
- 36 residents told us they ‘possibly would’ use the service. We assessed demand at 34 single
trips per week - Over a 6 month period this totals approximately 4900 single trips.
Actual results:
- 57 residents registered for the service
- 12 residents used the service during the 6 month pilot
- 62 single trips were made during the 6 month pilot
- Each single trip taken cost Grayshott and Headley parishes £8 in subsidy.
The outcome of the pilot shows minimal use of this service and the conclusion is that there is very
little demand for advance booking door to door community transport in Grayshott and Headley
Down. The current service will be discontinued with effect 1 November.
On a more positive note your Parish Council is aware of the benefits of access to community
transport and is engaging in further discussions with the Hampshire County Council community
transport team and Haslemere Hoppa to assess if there are alternative options which can balance
social benefits with commercial reality.
