Keep your garden thriving (and flowering) this June
June is one of the busiest (and most rewarding) months in the garden. Here are a few quick, practical jobs to help you get great growth now and keep on top of the inevitable pile of clippings.
- Deadhead regularly – to keep repeat‑flowering plants (especially roses and bedding) producing blooms.
- Water thoroughly, less often – soak the soil so moisture reaches roots (containers and baskets may need daily checks in warm weather).
- Trim hedges and fast growers – (where appropriate) to keep things neat—always check for nesting birds first.
- Feed containers and hungry crops – to make the most of June light levels and growth.
- Stay on top of pests – keep an eye on slugs/snails and other problem pests while plants are young.
