My Role As A Councillor
I became a councillor with the Grayshott Parish Council after I was co-opted by the council members just over a year ago. The last twelve months have been a great learning experience about the community I represent and live in. I am very grateful for the working relationship I have developed and cherished with the council members and staff, most especially our Chairman Richard Lyon and our Parish Clerk Katie Weir who have supported me as a new councillor in the council and helped me undertake all the necessary training to be a good councillor.
I have a responsibility as a councillor to be well informed, especially about the diverse local views in the community and that’s why I have tried to meet people face-to-face when possible and engage online by joining the Facebook Grayshott Community and more local to me, the Applegarth Vale WhatsApp group. With the knowledge gained from these online groups and meeting people, I believe I can better serve the community and make better decisions in the council on behalf of the community.
For the immediate future I will be working for the council in one of its initiatives and action plans to help make Grayshott a Dementia Friendly Village as it fits to one of the reasons I became a parish councillor which is to protect, promote and maintain the health, safety, and well-being of the people in the community.
