Thank you to each and every one of you who attended this year’s Annual Assembly on 26th April. We had an excellent turnout with over 90 parishioners in attendance. Our high turnout was complimented by a local MP candidate as one of the highest in the area. As a village, we can be proud of our community engagement.
This year’s theme was 2024 Initiatives to Improve our Village. We heard from Councillor Nigel Harrison on our Road Safety Initiative; Councillor Dennis Homer on how East Hampshire District Council’s Local Plan will impact Grayshott; Hilary Loder wowed us on the great work The Base is doing to engage with our younger community; Richard Berridge provided us with a fascinating history of the Grayshott & District Housing Association and their plans for the future; Councillor Sean Weir gave insight to the skate park redevelopment project currently underway and Assistant Clerk Lucie Thornton updated us on events during Dementia Action Week (11th – 19th May).
A great thanks to our stallholders who displayed information on local clubs, groups and initiatives. In attendance were
- Grayshott Gardeners
- Grayshott Sports Clubs
- Grayshott Community Orchard Project
- Grayshott & District Housing Association
- The Queen’s Memorial design
- Village youth work
- The Community Library
- Grayshott Stagers
- Grayshott CofE Primary School
and a thank you to the Grayshott Tea Party for serving tea and coffee and the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church for serving wine and cheese selection.
Grayshott Parish Council would like to say thank you for your comments and questions at the end of the evening on our initiatives. We recognise that the Q&A session was kept brief and we hope to address any unanswered questions in more detail in the near future. In the meantime, we have now uploaded the minutes for the assembly to our Agenda & Minutes page on the website.
Coming up this week we have the launch of the Kindness Cafe, we hope to see you for a cup of tea and piece of cake in The Village Square on Thursday 16th May from 10am and at Grayshott Sports Ground, Beech Hanger Road, for the Village Fete from 2:30pm on Sunday 19th May.
