Voter registration forms – Save time, do it online
Save time and money by responding to your voter registration forms online this September.
The Household Enquiry Form (HEF) is delivered annually to 52,000 households around the district and you can expect yours through your door over the next few weeks.
The form allows East Hampshire District Council to keep the electoral register up to date.
The easiest way to respond is online and by following our easy three-step guide below – it only takes a few minutes.
All households are legally required to respond to the form and EHDC is legally obliged to follow up those that don’t with reminder letters and door-to-door visits.
In 2017 these follow-ups cost the taxpayer £15,000. The same amount of money could pay for six weeks of grass cutting, accommodation for 15 families threatened with homelessness or vet bills for 200 stray dogs.
Anyone not currently on the electoral register will need to complete the Household Enquiry Form and then sign up to the register. This can be done at gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Households that fail to respond could also be removed from the electoral register, preventing them from voting in future elections.
