War memorial cross to be removed

The cross on the war memorial, which has a split in it, will be removed today. This is so that a replica can be made. The central motif is badly eroded and despite the Council’s best efforts no-one is able to advise what it is. Councillors agreed the new cross should bear a Hampshire rose. A rededication service of the war memorial will be arranged once the new cross is in place.
