Your County Council, Your Vote this May

Hampshire County Council elections take place on Thursday 7 May. Everyone who is eligible and registered can vote in person at a polling station, or by post or proxy if you have arranged this in advance.

People will be able to choose who they want to represent them on the County Council to make decisions on a wide range of essential local services that affect everyday life like schools, roads, social care for children and adults, libraries and tips. The County Councillors elected in May will help shape how these services are delivered until April 2028.

Candidates

You can find out who is standing for election in your local County Council electoral division, by visiting our webpages via the button below.

In Hampshire, each of the 78 councillor positions representing 76 divisions across the county are up for election.  Two County Council divisions elect two councillors (Leesland & Town (Gosport) and Fareham Town), due to the size of the electorate, so Hampshire County Council consists of 78 councillors for 76 electoral divisions.

Accessibility at polling stations

Polling stations are set up so everyone eligible to vote can do so independently and in private. Staff will be there to help if you need support. You’re welcome to bring someone you trust with you, and assistance dogs are allowed in polling stations.

Hampshire district and borough councils run the elections on behalf of the County Council so if you have questions about access at your local polling station or think you’ll need extra help, please get in touch with them as soon as possible so arrangements can be made before polling day.
