This is the second weekly update on the Skate Park project for our residents.

The project is making good progress and remains on track to be finished by Christmas – even with the rather poor weather that the work-crew has had to endure!

This week the focus has been on getting the ground works complete in preparation for the play equipment and for extending the tarmac skate area. So, the work-crew have created the pathway and lined that with edging. This looks excellent and its clear now how the new path will link from the overflow car park area down past the cricket nets to the new play areas.

The crew has also marked out and formed with edging the new semi-circular area that will take the new ‘Activity Zone’ equipment. Behind this you will also start to see the formation of the new ‘bund’ (mound of earth). Over the course of the project this will be shaped and settled-in to form a lovely mound area as a back-drop to the Activity Zone.

Next week the guys are taking delivery of the play equipment – very exciting!

My final note for this week’s bulletin is to remind all our residents of the comprehensive process we went through to seek public opinion on the design ideas, what the priorities were and what our 11 to 15 target age group would most value. Having established a budget through grants and our own money, we ran a competitive tender process to select the best supplier. This was set up as a ‘Design Competition’ – that is we were looking for the best design given the available budget. I think you will all agree that Proludic’s design is excellent and just what our village needs.

If you want to know more, there is an excellent display in the Parish Office setting out the project and the design as well as more information on our website.

As I mentioned last week, I am the project manager for the Parish Council, so please contact me via e-mail on sean.weir@grayshott-pc.gov.uk if you have any questions.

Many thanks
