Future Hampshire Website Launched to Support Local Government Reorganisation
A new website has been launched to provide residents, businesses, communities and partner organisations with information about the future of local government across Hampshire.
The website has been developed as part of the Future Hampshire Programme, a county-wide initiative that is coordinating preparations for local government reorganisation following the Government’s earlier announcement on council restructuring. The programme brings together councils from across Hampshire to plan and deliver the transition to new council arrangements.
The new website serves as a central source of information, offering updates on the programme, key documents and resources, and explanations of how the changes will be implemented. Visitors can find information about:
- Why local government in Hampshire is changing
- What the future council arrangements will look like
- Key milestones and timescales for the programme
- What the changes mean for residents, businesses, communities and partner organisations
- How councils are working together to manage the transition, including governance and decision-making arrangements
Importantly, while planning for the future councils is underway, existing council services will continue to operate as normal. Residents and businesses should continue to access services through their current councils.
The programme is expected to continue through to April 2028, when the new councils are anticipated to take responsibility for local government services across Hampshire.
