Notification from National Highways – upcoming Hindhead Tunnel closures
Hindhead tunnel – full overnight closures
Monday 18 to morning of Thursday 21 March 2024
National Highways operates, maintains and improves England’s motorways and major A-roads. This email is to let you know we will shortly be carrying out essential works to Hindhead tunnel. This will include activities such as essential maintenance, and testing some of the technology we use to keep drivers safe when travelling through the tunnel.
To minimise disruption, we’ll work on weeknights only when there are fewer vehicles on the road. During the day we will keep the tunnel open as usual. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during this essential work.
Closure information
The Hindhead tunnel will be fully closed for 3 weeknights (9pm to 6am each night) from Monday 18 to morning of Thursday 21 March 2024.
Diversion information
A fully signed diversion will be in place in both directions via the A325 and A31, which you can view in advance on our webpage – https://nationalhighways.co.uk/our-roads/south-east/hindhead-tunnel/
We’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum. We always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes. Please monitor www.trafficengland.com to keep updated.
